Greenwich University MArch Architecture Part 2 Workshop - Rhino Session B
Rhino Session B
As the same as the last workshop, I will be using Sketchup rather than Rhino to complete this exercise.
First draw an outline of a rail, 150mm side and 170mm high, draw half then reflect it to make it mirrored.
After mirroring the drawing clean it up by erasing un-wanted lines.
Make a copy of the rail outline 1400mm to the right.
Extrude both to 100 metres
Create a box under the rails measuring 2000mm length, 150mm high and 300mm depth, duplicate it along the rail at 750 distance centred.
Go back to the front view and draw a motorway shape under the rail with an 8m wide platform and extrude 100metres.
Draw a column under the floor of the motorway.
Duplicate the columns along the motorway, I have pressed control and made a copy of the column to the end of the motorway, then click / and 10, which divides the distance by 10 and evenly copies 10 of the column along it.
Next to create a roof structure, I have created a cube as my guideline.
drawing the curved edges on the outside of the box to determine the shape and boundary.
Then with the soap and bubble plugin for sketchup, I have chosen the skin density to be 20.
Skin the outline to create a mesh.
With Joint push pull plugin for sketchup I create thickness for the mesh.
Generate the thickness.
Texture the roof with glass.
For quick realtime rendering, I use Enscape for sketchup for fast visuals.
As the Enscape plugin is in sync with sketchup, you can texture and make changes live within Sketchup and have it updated in Enscape. I have here applied material texture to the rails and motorway in Sketchup and screenshot shows update in Enscape.
